This weekend, I packed up my machine and projects and headed to Monument, Colorado for a quilt retreat hosted by Treelotta, one of my local quilt shops in Denver. This retreat has been awesome; we’ve brought enough projects for a full three days of sewing and absolutely no structured activities whatsoever. We’ve all been working on our projects, pausing here and there to munch on snacks and applaud the latest person to finish her [first, second, third, or fourth] quilt top of the weekend. If this isn’t heaven, I don’t know what is.
In the spirit of warm fuzzies that I’ve been experiencing over the weekend (both quilting- and tequila-induced), I wanted to share some of the beautiful work that quilters of all ages, backgrounds, and traditions do in Colorado. These are the makers that we at RST invoke in our manifesto, and it’s people like these—like you—that inspire us to keep writing and sharing. Enjoy! (more…)
